(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Mathai, who has come to Tehran with Indian foreign minister to attend the NAM ministerial meeting on Tuesday, made the remarks in a meeting with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on Monday.
At the meeting, Mathai said the fact that Tehran is hosting the summit is seen as a positive development as Iran can give more action to the NAM.
Araqchi, for his part, viewed the Indian Prime Minister's upcoming visit to Tehran to attend the summit as highly important, and said India, as an active member of the NAM, plays a significant role in international developments and the world order.
He further welcomed India's enthusiasm for investment in the Iranian port of Chabahar to transit goods and products to Afghanistan and the Central Asia, and voiced agreement with forming a workgroup by Iran, India and Afghanistan to work on this project.
Iranian, Indian and Afghan foreign ministry officials in a meeting on Sunday agreed to form a task group for strengthening joint economic cooperation.
The agreement was reached during a tripartite meeting held in the Iranian southeastern city of Chabahar to discuss grounds for promotion of joint economic cooperation.
Located in the Iranian Sistan and Balouchestan Province, Chabahar is a free port (Free Trade Zone) on the coast of the Gulf of Oman.
The officials also agreed to follow up efforts to develop joint trade activities, investments and transit of goods among the three capitals during a meeting which would be held in Chabahar three months later.
